Engineer II- Nuclear Analysis

Palo Verde Generating Station performs reload core design and non-LOCA safety analysis internally. Palo Verde is seeking additional nuclear analysis staff to work at the station to perform these analyses
Minimum Requirements
A 4-year bachelor degree in Nuclear Engineering from an accredited college or university plus two (2) years experience in engineering positions. Successful completion of the Palo Verde Legacy Engineering Program in lieu of the two (2) years engineering experience is acceptable. (Professional Engineers License is not an acceptable equivalency for bachelor degree.) Must possess working knowledge of operating and engineering practices, safety rules, company policies, applicable codes, standards, methods and any related union agreements in the area of discipline and or assignment. May require experience in design, operations or planning of distribution systems, understanding of company resource utilization and computer models used in resource use simulation, probability and economics, excellent technical and analytical skills, working knowledge of transmission systems essential and/or extensive knowledge of excel and other databases used for graphs and charts.
Nuclear requirement: Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member. Any PVGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage. This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities. These are a condition of employment at PVGS.
Preferred Special Skills
Knowledge of programming languages and tools such as FORTRAN, PERL, AWK/SED, C, and Visual Basic.
Familiarity with the CASMO/SIMULATE neutronics code suite.
Fundamentals of Engineering certificate.
Major Accountabilities
Ensures engineering design work is technically sound, and in compliance with established standards, codes, and regulations.
Enhances department performance and productivity and recommend improvements.
Performs engineering analyses.
Prepares technical reviews and analyses.
Develops core loading pattern designs, generates nuclear cross sections, create neutronics models, and performs engineering analyses to evaluate the physics characteristics of reload cores using analysis software such as SIMULATE-3, CASMO-4, XIMAGE, etc.
Utilizes the reload process methodology and software tools.
Subject to occasional shift work.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
