Manager Nuclear Strategic / Business Planning

Responsibilities The Nuclear Strategic and Business Planning Manager is a core member of the Nuclear Policy team, which creates and implements a vision to strategically position Palo Verde in the regulatory and business environment.  The Manager develops, monitors and recommends actions to implement the Palo Verde Strategic Plan and department plans; provides strategic and business planning decision support; and, in partnership with the Palo Verde directorates and at the direction of the Palo Verde executive leadership team, develops and manages the Palo Verde Strategic Plan and the directorates' business plans.  Is the lead advisor in the establishment and implementation of policies and plans for Palo Verde.  Provides expert analysis and advice that contributes to long-range strategic plans and objectives that impact Palo Verde's long-term sustainability.  Proactively identifies threats and opportunities to the Palo Verde strategic plan based on external market forces, as well as internal strengths and weaknesses.  Serves as a resource for all Palo Verde directorates in strategic and business planning, risk / opportunity assessment, and change management processes related to Palo Verde long-term strategic decisions.  Assumes a lead role on a team responsible for influencing outcomes of Palo Verde planning decisions from ideation through implementation.  Additionally, supports and plays a key role in the development and execution of the Palo Verde strategic plan as it may affect the APS Corporate strategic plan and APS Corporate business unit plans through coordination and effective interaction with APS Corporate strategic planning and business planning organizations. Minimum Requirements A four year Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Information Technology or similar discipline from an accredited college  or university plus eight (8) years of broad business strategy or operational experience with increasing responsibility/accountability.  Three (3) years experience in a supervisor/management role involving the planning, organizing, directing and evaluating the work and performance of employees.  Excellent understanding of utility sector threats to both nuclear power and APS.  Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:  Master's degree with emphasis in Policy or Planning or similar discipline.  Six (6) years' experience with business or strategic planning.  Four (4) years' experience in cross-functional roles interacting with senior management.  Excellent financial and strategic acumen, with the ability to synthesize trends across business strategy / initiatives, operational plans and financial performance.  Experience driving initiatives across all levels of the organization, including framing and building support for business decisions and coaching / developing subject matter partners in the delivery of robust strategic insights for evaluation by senior management.  Strong analytical problem-solving skills, with demonstrated quantitative facility.  Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.  Strong mastery of Microsoft Office tools (specifically Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word). Major Accountabilities 1) Assumes a lead role in the evaluation and implementation of the Palo Verde strategic plan, including translating scenarios into strategies, and facilitating and conducting ongoing reviews of the landscape affecting the electric power sector.  Ensures external viewpoints and perspectives are factored into strategy evaluation, including trends outside the utilities and nuclear power industries that may directly or peripherally impact Palo Verde's long-term sustainability.  Leads the monitoring and strategic review of indicators with subject matter experts on an ongoing basis, and identifies when indicators reflect the need to take action, or stop taking action, as the case may be. 2) Manages all aspects of the Palo Verde Strategic Direction and business planning meetings agendas, including topics presented and sequence of presentation based on strategic drivers, as well as all facets of advance preparation including content review and presenter de-briefing / strategic alignment.  Documents key positions, decisions, and next steps through formal meeting outcome summaries.  3) Selects and develops a high performing team through effective coaching, performance feedback, recognition, training and developmental opportunities.  Responsible for staffing, compensation administration and performance management of personnel. 4) Prepares, recommends and oversees development of department budget.  Monitors spending for adherence to budget.  Plans, develops and recommends plans to address variances. 5) Drives dialogue across all stakeholders during strategy construction to ensure strategic recommendations/analyses are thoroughly vetted and in alignment with the Palo Verde Strategic Plan.  Provides advice to directorate leaders while participating on, and leading, effective teams to solve problems and create strategic opportunities that translate the relevant unit's significant objectives into actions that support the long-term objectives and direction of Palo Verde. 6) Proactively gathers, evaluates and disseminates business intelligence insight, sector trends, competitive threats, business environmental factors, and shifts in customer value demands/expectations.  Partnering across Palo Verde, facilitates the translation of strategic decisions and related intelligence findings into business initiatives that support the long-term Strategic Plan. 7) Manages the design, development, and delivery of the Palo Verde Business Plan.  Partners with each directorate to deliver a comprehensive product to the Palo Verde executive leadership team for review and station-wide distribution in the fourth quarter of each year for implementation in the beginning of the next calendar year.  Draws from best practices from APS Corporate and other companies in the sector, as well as other industries, to develop a straightforward, relevant and impactful product.  Provides strategic recommendations to leadership, challenging theories and evaluating alternatives for a variety of business cases and scenarios.  8) Works closely with the APS Corporate Strategy team to ensure Palo Verde strategic direction decisions that impact Corporate Strategic Initiatives are seamlessly integrated, or if they don't pertain to each other, aren't inconsistent or contradictory with each other; and likewise with APS Corporate Finance & Business Operations team to ensure Palo Verde Business Plan actions that impact APS Corporate business plan initiatives are seamlessly integrated, or if they don't pertain to each other, aren't inconsistent or contradictory with each other. 20180986

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
