Engineer III / SR - System Engineering

Responsibilities ENGINEER III Independently provide technical engineering, design, economic and analytical support to participate in the development of bridging strategies, long-range system plans (LRPs), life cycle management (LCMs), Maintenance Rule and equipment reliability. .  Primary company contact and representative for assigned areas of responsibility to support equipment reliability goals and resolving equipment issues.  Perform professional engineering tasks requiring skills and experience gainedwork experience with plant equipment.  Responsibility for technical decisions and interpretations on assigned systems and  performing independently with little  supervision or guidance.  .  Provide ltechnical guidance to maintenance, operations and engineering leadership as needed. Ensure plant equipment reliability and safe operations. Propose needed equipment upgrades or plant modifications.  Must be available to perform shift work to support plant outages or equipment failures. Minimum Requirements: A 4-year bachelor degree in Engineering  from an accredited college or university plus five (5) years experience in engineering positions of which one (1) year of experience shall be nuclear.  (Professional Engineers License not an acceptable equivalency for bachelor degree.)   Must possess comprehensive knowledge of energy analysis, engineering applications, business, and finance, working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, practices, and methods in the area of individual's discipline.  Must have good understanding of construction, operating and engineering practices; safety rules; company policies and union agreements.      Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:  EIT and Certified Energy Managers certificate. Nuclear requirement: Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member.  Any PVNGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage.  This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities.  These are a condition of employment at PVNGS. Major Accountabilities: Ensures engineering design, project control, schedule commitments, or oversight work is technically sound, cost effective, and in compliance with established standards, codes, and regulations and adequate reliability will be maintained in future years. Independently performs moderately complex engineering analyses, distribution planning and establishes baseline performance data on new and existing equipment. Maintains knowledge of integrated electrical systems, political climate, economic situation and technical trends and developments.  Maintain the highest level of employee and public safety while adhering to Labor Agreement and Accident Prevention Manual. Prepares technical reviews, analyses, investigations, verifications and designs.  Prepares, presents and sells study results both in writing and orally to management and peers in a clear, concise and professional manner. Participates in professional associations, governmental and private agencies and educational organizations to leverage their activities and network with peer stations. Responsible for the overall safe and reliable long term operation of the site's six emergency diesel generators (EDGs). Develop and maintain a high degree of knowledge of the site's EDGs electrical and control systems, including pneumatics.  Knowledge is to include design, operation, and regulatory. Monitor and trend system performance to prevent equipment failures, reduce system unavailability, increase equipment reliability, and improve plant efficiency. Be the primary advocate for obtaining the necessary resources to maintain and improve the performance of the EDGs. Champion projects that will improve system health and drive them from conceptual through implementation including presentations to the Plant Health committees. Identify and effectively communicate and elevate system issues to all levels of management. Drive resolution of system and equipment issues by developing action plans an implementing them through the site Corrective Action Program. Develop and maintain relationships with industry experts and peers, including participation in industry user groups. Remain current on related industry operating experience and apply lessons learned to improve station performance. Perform OE evaluations to determine any impact and risk to PVGS. Proactively identify and resolve equipment obsolescence and parts availability issues. Lead multidisciplinary teams to troubleshoot and resolve emergent equipment issues on the EDGs. Support required troubleshooting gameplans/activities for unplanned and planned EDG LCO outages.  Establish and maintain an effective preventive maintenance strategy that balances equipment reliability with availability and develop/maintain oversight of required retests following maintenance. Develop, sponsor, and implement life cycle management and long range plans. Develop equipment sequence of retest plans for three planned maintenance outages each year and implement them through shift coverage.Support integrated safeguards testing with shift coverage at the start of the two planned refueling outages each year.   ENGINEER SR Applies in-depth technical knowledge and expertise to complex engineering and construction projects for one or more of the following disciplines:  control systems, electronics or electrical.  Independently provide technical engineering, design, economic and analytical support to participate in the development of bridging strategies, long-range system plans (LRPs), life cycle management (LCMs), Maintenance Rule and equipment reliability. Identifies potential schedule or quality problems and initiates corrective action. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
